Two Animated Submarines deep in the ocean with coarls around them

With the goal to prepare STEAM kids for the 21st century, PIEX education is offering a Deep Ocean Holiday Exploration Program for kids aged between 6-12 years old.

“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul” – Robert Wyland.

Taking place in April 2021, the Deep Exploration Program is designed to foster your kids’ creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and community. This unique program will allow your child to experience a range of fun and exciting activities. Our one of a kind STEAM Program includes coding, robotics, origami, science experiments and much more.

Importance of the ocean

Every breath we take and every drop we drink is enabled by the effective functioning of the ocean. The ocean provides society with enormous benefits and ultimately acts as our planet’s life support system. As outlined by the National Ocean Service, the ocean:

  • Produces over half of the world’s oxygen,
  • Regulates our climate by transporting heat from the equator to the poles,
  • Provides a sustainable food source of more than just seafood, and
  • Allows for transportation and recreational activities within society, thereby producing significant social and economic benefits.

However, due to climate change, pollution, unsustainable fishing practices and deep sea mining, the ocean is facing major threats. According to the National Geographic, these threats are so prevalent that 40% of the ocean has been severely affected; and no area has been untouched. To better protect our oceans, we need to address the root causes of global warming that places our marine environments at risk. And that’s where our Deep Exploration Holiday Program comes in.

Play Based Learning

At PIEX, we recognise that the children today are our future global leaders. By allowing children to apply their knowledge to real life problems, play based learning provides a powerful means to develop kids social, physical, emotional and cognitive development. The benefits of play-based learning are outlined in our previous blog post here. STEAM Kids have a problem-solving attitude which bodes well for our planet, surrounded by imminent global warming.

The upcoming Deep Exploration Holiday Program uses play based learning to teach your kids. Kids dive into the deep dark ocean in a high tech submarine to explore the wonders and mysteries of the ocean. As a result, children are inspired by technological driven ocean exploration, animal conservation and energy generation. Through the program, children will find out how deep the ocean really is. Explore what is hiding at most solitary places on the earth; and solve whether underwater turbines can solve energy problems in the world.

According to the World Economic Forum, 65% of children entering primary school today will ultimately end up working in a job that does not yet exist.

Increase Employability of STEAM Kids

According to the World Economic Forum, 65% of children entering primary school today will ultimately end up working in a job that does not yet exist. To prepare our children for the future, we need to ensure kids have more than just good academics; strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, self-awareness and empathy. PIEX recognises these issues and strives to change the ways children learn so they can be prepared for the future. According to Forbes, STEAM Kids have a more collaborative approach to their work due to their increased aptitude for creativity & innovation.

To do so, our unique program uses S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) learning, to ensure our children will be global citizens that are able to adapt to the challenges of the 21st century. The Deep Ocean Exploration Program will develop your child’s skills so that they can make a meaningful contribution to society.
