The Archaeologists’ motto is, “Keep on digging and never throw in the trowel”. This works out when conducting STEAM Program for kids.
We, at PIEX, certainly believe in this and aim to instil the same in our students. We recently wrapped up our first Holiday Program of 2021. Our first venture this year was based on the theme Archaeology where children learned about artefacts and all things ancient. STEAM program for kids were held at two different locations, a picturesque Sydney Olympic Park and Dural Public School.
A 3-day long event that can only be described as a fiesta, as an amalgamation of STEAM. STEAM stands for Science, Technology. Engineering, Arts & Math. This is the first time we have seen a bunch of students who have cheered when told to do math. A regular PIEX class starts with some arts in the form of Origami, colouring. This gives the children ample opportunity to stimulate their grey matter in preparation for the rest of the day. Our classes culminate with a presentation by the children wherein, they show the online games they have designed from scratch, with Scratch coding software.
The best part of the day for the kids was during the robotics session where children learn to code the mBots are the perfect accessory for the kids to step into the world of robotics. It is the goal of PIEX to ensure the incorporation of STEAM in all the activities that we undertaken in our holiday programs. Kids learn how to program and operate these robots; and our experienced coaches provide them a creative and productive atmosphere to thrive. Challenges are designed in a way that is exciting for the kids and encourages them to participate and compete. This also encourages a sense of teamwork and partnership amongst the kids. Kids learn and achieve excellence while collaborating with each other.
Mindfulness is a way of befriending ourselves and our experience.
Our classes boast children from the ages of 6 to 12, and it is a testament to our experienced coaches’ expertise that all the children are provided mental, physical, and creative stimulation appropriate for their ages. As important as the activities are for the human mind, mindfulness has been proven to improve attention span, decision-making abilities, and increases calmness, according to Huffpost. Hence, we dedicated time, in our curriculum, for children’s’ mindfulness exercises. This helps them appreciate the present and dive into the activities with renewed vigour.
All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy. We subscribe to this proverb quite heartily, there are dedicated break times and play times incorporated within our days to increase camaraderie amongst the students. This ensures an all round development of kids, of mind, body, and soul. A daring endeavour that is the goal of PIEX Education, for this is what ensures a child that is ready to take on the future and challenges.
Stay tuned for our next Holiday Program!
